A Coordination Model for Ubiquitous Computing
نویسندگان
چکیده
-This paper presents a coordination model called XCM, intended to conceptualise coordination within ubiquitous computing, and one instantiation of this model called UCM. The constraints brought up to coordination by ubiquitous computing are the need to face immersion within physical environments, a very strong heterogeneity of software and hardware components, and a very high dynamicity and contextsensitivity of applications. XCM is an generic model organized around a few abstract concepts (entity, environment, social law and port) addressing coordination basically in terms of proactive and reactive contextual behaviours. The UCM instantiation allows us to show how XCM concepts can be applied, and to discuss the expression power gained through XCM high level of abstraction. Key-Words: Distributed computing, Ubiquitous systems, Coordination, Service, Composition.

Bridging Coordination Gaps between Devices, Services, and Humans in Ubiquitous Computing
A fundamental issue of ubiquitous computing concerns the coordination gaps separating devices, services, and humans. Numerous heterogeneous devices, various information services, and users have different intentions and are physically located in respective environments. How can we coordinate the services and devices to assist a particular user in receiving a particular service and thereby maximi...
متن کاملEnabling Ubiquitous Coordination Using Application Sessions
Enabling coordination among ubiquitous computing applications and resources requires programming abstractions and development tools tailored to this unique environment. This paper introduces a suite of coordination abstractions that enables expressive interaction between ubiquitous computing applications and dynamically available resources. In our model, applications express their coordination ...
متن کاملA Dynamic Device Driver for Real-space Programming in Ubiquitous Computing Environment
In the ubiquitous computing environment, a service description that coordinates sensors and actuators in low power consumption will be an important element. Based on this standpoint, we are developing a new service coordination model that precludes semantics. This paper describes a dynamic loadable device driver manager designed based on this service coordination model.
متن کاملCONSORTS: A Multiagent Architecture for Service Coordination in Ubiquitous Computing
One of the fundamental issues of Ubiquitous Computing is concerned with the coordination gaps between devices, services, and users. When numerous devices, various information services, and users who have different intentions are physically co-located in a environment, how can we coordinate the services and devices to assist a particular user in receiving a particular service so as to maximize t...
متن کاملExtending tuplespaces for coordination in interactive workspaces
The current interest in programming models and software infrastructures to support ubiquitous and environmental computing is heightened by the falling cost of hardware and the ubiquity of local-area wireless networking technologies. Interactive workspaces are technologically augmented team-project rooms that represent a specific sub-domain of ubiquitous computing. We argue both from related wor...
